this sunday i went into manhattan for a very high-energy day.

it started here:






but THEN headed here:




you can imagine that each event involved a very distinct kind of high energy. while the gays were shaking their proverbial groove thangs to lady gaga, the chicos at the bar were having shouting matches and throwing back beers. the gay pride community and the world cup community (especially eses machos latinos!) may not share too much common ground, but i gotta wonder what would happen if these two subcultures crashed into each other.

my friends manuel and kenji were visiting the city this week from mexico, so of course i was happy to show them around manhattan... i just don't think they realized how much walking would be involved. i can walk for blocks and blocks and blocks, but after hiking from the upper west side down to the financial district in the hot summer sun, m&k were pretty toast...

in new york, everything's BIG, even the food!!! good thing mika can consume more than any human i have ever known (and stay skinny doing it!! wwwtttfff)

mika wants to come to nyc to study next year, so she came to visit me and check it out! soo excited to be reunited with such a sweet old friend. unfortunately she seems to have come for the coldest week ever, but we're still gonna see all the sites!! starting with the brooklyn bridge...

went to see the jeff koons exhibit on the roof of the met~ i love that garden; it's the best way to enjoy art and with the fantastic nature of koons' art, my afternoon on the roof was soo lovely

spent the day with chelce at the moma to check out the german exhibit featuring kirschner, ran into one of picasso's bulls along the way... i like picasso, but i love his bulls

even in the biggest city, on the darkest, rainiest day, there's a rainbow around some corner...

new years 2008 in manhattan! and we celebrated with korean karaoke on 32nd street. however, some of us handled our soju better than others...
